Subject: 3ph Servo Wiring Configuration
Hi Tom,
I am looking at a 3ph brushless servo motor to use with SnapAmp. There are 3 styles of windings available within the motor (parallel wye, parallel delta and series wye) and I was wondering which is most suitable for use with the SnapAmp?

Thank you,
David.

Hi David,

I'm not exactly sure.  You would need to look at the motor specifications.  In general I believe series and wye tend to require higher voltage (but less current) for a particular speed.  Choose the highest voltage winding configuration that provides your required speed with the ~80V that SnapAmp can provide.  That should minimize the current requirements and maximize the torque capability.
